EIP project "Steep wines"

"Strong wines from steep slopes - using climate change as an opportunity for terrace viticulture"

The project was carried out between 2019 and 2023 as part of the "EIP-AGRI" (European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability) funding measures in order to position steep-slope viticulture for the future.
The basic idea of "Steile Weine" is to make steep-slope viticulture economically attractive and thus sustainable by cultivating international and new varieties with high wine potential. At the same time, the requirements profile of the resulting new type of wine was verified by consumer tests to ensure its marketing potential. These findings were used to develop a marketing concept for a joint steep slope wine for the specialist and food retail trade.
