Leisure buses

in the district of Ludwigsburg

The recreational buses complement the well-developed bus route network in the Ludwigsburg district by adding a recreational element, transporting cyclists, hikers, and day-trippers to interesting towns and beautiful landscapes on weekends.

The Stuttgart Transport and Fare Association (VVS) fare applies on the buses along the entire route; bicycles can be transported free of charge on a trailer.

In the“Stromer”recreational bus brochure, you’ll find interesting tips for day trips and leisure activities, bike tours, and hiking routes, as well as profiles of the cities, towns, and parks along the route. You can also find inspiration in the VVS’s Orange Pages.

Stromer" cycling and hiking bus

The “Stromer” cycling and hiking bus runs on Saturdays, Sundays, andholidays from Bietigheim-Bissingen via Löchgau – Erligheim – Bönnigheim – Freudental to the Kirbach Valley, and also makes a detour to Tripsdrill Adventure Park. Its season aligns with that of Tripsdrill Adventure Park.

The “Stromer” will begin service on March 21, 2026, and will operate throughout the Tripsdrill Adventure Park season until November 1.

"WeinKulTourer" cycling and hiking bus

From May 1 through the second-to-last Sunday in October, the “WeinKulTourer” cycling and hiking bus is in service. On Sundays and holidays, it connects the Bottwar Valley and the Neckar Valley.

The scenic route runs from Marbach via Erdmannhausen—Steinheim—Großbottwar—Mundelsheim, and Hessigheim to Besigheim.

The “WeinKulTourer” is significantly impacted along its route due to the closure of the Neckar Bridge in Besigheim, the Murr Bridge near Marbach, and the complete closure of Marktstraße in Steinheim. Regular service will therefore be suspended until the end of the 2026 season.

In addition to the “WeinKulTourer,” there is another cycling and hiking bus that departs from the Rems-Murr district and runs to Oberstenfeld and Prevorst. Commute on foot or by bike between Großbottwar and Oberstenfeld, and take the “Berg- und Talbus” for a trip to the Murr-Bottwartal Landscape Park.

Enjoy your ride on the Ludwigsburg District’s recreational buses!
