What happened in 2024 - an overview.

From 2025, all interested institutions and companies that permanently install an orange-colored bench will continue to receive the appropriate plaque with the logo of the installer free of charge from the district. Please register here.
Where can I get an orange bench?
You can buy a new orange bench or paint an existing bench orange. Any bench design—including pallet benches—is welcome.
You can also choose where to place it: inside a building or outdoors. The ideal color is light red-orange—RAL 2008. However, a similar shade of orange is also acceptable.
The benches may also be decorated with messages.
Gender-based violence is pervasive and remains deeply entrenched in our social structures. One in three women in Germany is affected by physical and/or sexual violence. 25% of women in Germany experience physical and/or sexual violence in their relationships. Every third day, a man kills his (ex-)partner.
In the Ludwigsburg district as well, women are exposed to physical and/or sexual violence in a wide variety of areas of life. Only a fraction of these crimes are reported to local investigative authorities, and women often do not seek the necessary support from the assistance system.
This is where the district-wide campaign, in collaboration with numerous counseling and support centers, comes in:
1. Removing the taboo surrounding the issue among the general public
2. Raising public awareness of the issue
3. Providing information about the existing (local) support system
4. Increasing the confidence of (potential) victims and those around them to take action
Inspired by the UN’s “Orange the World” campaign, the Ludwigsburg district aims to install ORANGE-COLORED BENCHES in collaboration with all committed municipalities and organizations (companies, government agencies, educational institutions, colleges, and universities, etc.) within the district. These benches invite people to talk and serve as a visible reminder of the issue. All benches will receive a plaque from the district containing information about the support system. Upon request, the district will organize an on-site event on the topic for interested parties in conjunction with the unveiling of a bench. Existing benches can also be painted orange and customized. There are accompanying programs, hands-on activities, and informational materials. Projects from schools, youth centers, etc., are explicitly welcome.
During the 2024 campaign year, a total of 29 orange benches were installed in various municipalities across the district—both permanently and temporarily—to raise awareness about violence against women and help break the social taboo surrounding the issue. Each bench is equipped with a plaque listing support services, as well as a QR code that provides further information. The benches were or are located in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Freudental, Erdmannhausen, Ingersheim, Ludwigsburg, Marbach, Murr, Sersheim, Tamm, Vaihingen an der Enz, and Walheim.
