Health is a key prerequisite for everyone's well-being and quality of life. Lack of exercise, obesity and stress in the living and working environment are significant risk factors for the impairment of personal health. Against this backdrop, the state government has suggested setting up a municipal health conference in every district as part of the Baden-Württemberg Health Dialogue. This is supervised by the responsible health authority, often in the form of a specially established office.
The municipal health conference is intended to sustainably promote health in all areas and phases of life. To this end, greater emphasis is to be placed on prevention and health promotion measures. As a rule, these are based on the results of health reporting at district level. The aim is to develop a joint strategy to build up health-related structures in the district of Ludwigsburg in the long term and to network them in a meaningful way. The conference represents an exchange platform for health issues for all relevant stakeholders in the district of Ludwigsburg. Citizens can also enter into a dialog at municipal level in this way.
The Chairman of the Municipal Health Conference (KGK) in the district of Ludwigsburg is the District Administrator, Mr. Dietmar Allgaier.

Current working groups
Medical care working group
The "Medical care" working group brings together key players at district level, in particular from the medical profession, politics, the district administration and other relevant partners. Together, strategies, measures and procedures are planned, coordinated and implemented in order to sustainably strengthen and ensure medical care in the district. An initial concrete recommendation for action is the establishment of a general practice training network for the targeted promotion of young GPs.

Working group on overweight and obesity in children and adolescents
Overweight and obesity are widespread in Germany, partly as a result of the prevalence of highly processed foods and a sedentary lifestyle. Nationwide, 15% of children and young people aged 3 to 17 are overweight and as many as 6% are obese (2017). In the district of Ludwigsburg alone, more than 360 children are already overweight or severely overweight at pre-school age (approx. 8 percent) (data from the 2023 school enrolment examinations). Obesity in children and adolescents often continues into adulthood and can lead to major medical, psychological and social consequences.

Current projects & cooperations
Funding for the midwife structure in the Ludwigsburg district has been provided since 2021 with the aim of strengthening basic obstetric care in the district. Despite the tight budget situation, the social committee recommended in 2025 that €36,550 be made available for the next three years - specifically to stabilize the existing midwifery practices. There are currently no plans to expand the service due to the financial situation, but maintaining existing care is classified as a priority voluntary service.
