The district archive has been in existence since 1978.
Its tasks are
- Evaluation and archiving of district administration documents
- Building up and maintaining collections on the history of the district
- Advising the district communities on archive and registry issues
- Promoting the preservation of local history
- Researching and presenting the history of the district
- Supporting the district communities in the publication of local history publications
- Historical educational work (lectures, publications)
- Cooperation with historical societies (coordination of
- local history meetings in the district)
- Editorial office of the "Ludwigsburger Geschichtsblätter"
