Adoption is intended for children who cannot grow up in their own family. The needs of the child take center stage.
Adoption gives the child the legal status of a biological child.
The specialist adoption service can advise you on all questions relating to adoption.
The specialist adoption service advises pregnant women and parents who do not know whether they will be able to care for their child themselves.
In order to be able to make a responsible decision, the specialist adoption service offers counseling sessions. These discussions can help you to gain more clarity. We will also inform you about other forms of help. The consultation is non-binding and can be anonymous if you wish.
The specialist adoption service has the task of finding suitable parents for a child who cannot grow up in its family of origin.
Do you want to have a child and for various reasons cannot or do not want to have a child of your own?
We will inform you about all aspects of adoption, the necessary documents and the application process.
To arrange an information meeting, please contact us by e-mail at adoption@landkreis-ludwigsburg.de with us.
Prerequisites for an application for the placement of an adoptive child include
- You are married and have been living together for a longer period of time
- If possible, there should be a "natural" age gap between the adoptive parents and the child (infant) (if you have any questions about age, please contact us).
If you have children of your own, please also contact us before registering for the information evening.
The specialist adoption service is also your first point of contact for foreign adoptions.
We advise you on the special features of foreign adoption and take on the part of the general suitability check of the adoptive applicants. In the further procedure, we work together with the approved foreign adoption agencies (central adoption office of the state youth welfare office or independent agencies), which carry out the country-specific suitability check.
The Hague Adoption Convention provides binding guidelines for international adoption.
The specialist adoption service is responsible for stepchild and relative adoptions in Germany and abroad.
There is a basic obligation to provide advice to all parties involved, unless you were already married when the child was born. In this case, this duty to consult does not apply. Therefore, as a first step, please make an appointment for counseling with the specialist adoption service. Only when you have received the necessary counseling certificates do you arrange a notary appointment for the adoption application and consent to the adoption in the second step.
In the further adoption process, we will conduct counseling sessions with you, arrange a home visit and write a statement to the family court.
The family court makes the decision.
We will also advise you at any time after your child has been relinquished and support you in coming to terms with the adoption so that you can cope well with the rest of your life.
If available, we can provide you with general information on how the relinquished child is doing with its adoptive parents and how it is developing.
If you would like to talk to us about these topics, please contact us.
We can also offer you advice if you gave birth to the relinquished child confidentially or anonymously.
