Parking concessions

for severely disabled persons with exceptional walking disabilities and for blind persons

Severely disabled persons with exceptional walking disabilities and blind persons can be granted exemptions that allow them to make use of various parking facilities in all countries of the European Union:

  • Severely disabled persons who, due to the severity of their condition, can only move outside their motor vehicle permanently with the help of others or only with great effort, for example paraplegics, double above-knee amputees and hip disarticulates. Unilateral transfemoral amputees receive an exemption if they are permanently unable to wear an artificial leg, can only wear a pelvic basket prosthesis or are simultaneously lower leg or arm amputees.
  • Severely disabled persons with an exceptional walking disability who do not have a driving license and blind persons who are dependent on the use of a motor vehicle and who can only move with the help of others can also be granted an exemption. In these cases, the driver accompanying them is exempted from the provisions of the StVO.

In principle, it is not permitted to park where there is a legal or signposted ban on stopping.

Parking facilitation permits parking in parking spaces reserved for people with exceptional walking difficulties and blind people and marked with a wheelchair user symbol. In addition, the parking facilitation permits parking in restricted parking bans and in public parking spaces for residents designated by traffic signs for up to three hours.

Parking is permitted in pedestrian zones during loading times (times when the pedestrian zone may be used for loading and unloading), at parking meters and parking ticket machines without charge and time limit and in traffic-calmed areas outside the designated parking spaces, provided that this does not obstruct traffic.

In general, parking concessions may only be used if there is no other parking option within a reasonable distance. The maximum permitted parking time is 24 hours in all cases.

If you live in the area of responsibility of the Ludwigsburg District Office (see page Parking facilities for the disabled), the application must be submitted to the Traffic Department of the Ludwigsburg District Office, otherwise to the local town hall.

The parking permit is usually issued for five years. No fees are charged by the Ludwigsburg District Office for issuing the permit.

If you have any further questions, please contact the Traffic Department at Ludwigsburg District Office.
