And we fight for an open society in which refugees receive protection." You can find the latest information on political decisions and developments in refugees' countries of origin here.
The Baden-Württemberg Refugee Council is committed to refugees and a humane refugee policy. The association is the only independent and supra-regional network of local initiatives that work with and for refugees on a voluntary basis: "We support local refugee work by providing comprehensive information on the social and legal situation in Baden-Württemberg, on refugee policy and on the situation in the countries of origin."
You can subscribe to a very comprehensive and informative newsletter from both Pro Asyl and the Refugee Council BW.
The Baden-Württemberg State Ministry also offers a free newsletter via the internet portal www.fluechtlingshilfe-bw.de with up-to-date information, tips for working with refugees and reports on voluntary projects.

In addition to the necessary regular consultation with the social workers responsible in the respective accommodation, other contacts in the Ludwigsburg district are available to you.
More and more towns and municipalities are employing volunteer coordinators, refugee guides or integration officers. You can find your contact persons who can answer questions about the relevant municipality directly on site.
Diakonie and Caritas jointly finance the ecumenical asylum office, which advises and supports asylum working groups and groups of friends throughout the district. You can find more information on the services offered by the ecumenical specialist center as well as a wide range of current information on the topic of asylum here.

See if you can find your municipality here or ask locally. Furniture can be handed in to the AVL second-hand department store and bought at a reasonable price.
Smaller and larger items as well as other offers of help can be offered via the internet portal "HelpTo" and thus coordinated in the district. Here you will also always find individual requests from people or on behalf of working groups and groups of friends seeking asylum. Perhaps you have something suitable to give away?
Thank you for your interest in volunteering. If you would like to volunteer in a shared accommodation facility or for refugees, please contact the social worker responsible in the respective accommodation facility (see also question and answer no. 5).
Please understand that, for data protection reasons, the district is not permitted to pass on any personal data to third parties. It is very important to us that all asylum seekers and refugees, regardless of nationality and religion, are treated equally and are subject to special protection.
As deadlines and laws often have to be observed, you should only ever carry out your work in close consultation with the responsible social workers. Stay in close contact and leave the responsibility for the case - for your own relief - to the full-time employee. He/she will be very grateful for your support, accept your suggestions and accompany you.
Have you observed things that make you feel insecure or worried because you have the feeling that a child's well-being could be at risk? If you are interested in reading up on the subject, you can obtain comprehensive information in the brochure "Child endangerment - recognizing and helping".
The brochure of the Child Protection Center Berlin is sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and the National Center for Early Intervention.
Please be sure to speak to the responsible social worker. If you wish to register with the youth welfare office, please contact the youth welfare office of the Ludwigsburg district. You can find the contact details here.
Your direct contact and intensive discussions with refugees and asylum seekers are invaluable. Time and again you will meet people who have experienced terrible things and are under a great deal of stress. If you get the impression that a person needs more support, please speak to the responsible social worker first. Perhaps further steps have already been taken and help is in sight.
If you still have questions or would like to accompany the person in their search for suitable support, the following contact points are available to you:
Important note: Please avoid "self-experiments". Dealing with trauma is very complex and should be left to experts. In certain situations, you may be reminded of very stressful events, the consequences of which you are unable to deal with.
The services offered by the migration advice centers apply to all (newly) immigrated foreigners and ethnic German repatriates with "recognition", i.e. a residence permit. The youth migration services are specifically responsible for people up to the age of 27.

Volunteers who work for the district are insured under the district's liability insurance. This insurance applies to volunteers who work in temporary accommodation and have presented themselves to the responsible social services department.
Damage to private vehicles is only insured if it is a business trip approved by the district office. Approval must be obtained before the start of the journey. If you have any questions, please contact the responsible social services department.
Associations, local authorities, churches and other sponsors of work and friendship groups are themselves responsible for checking and ensuring additional insurance cover.
Liability and accident insurance cover is also provided by the Landesnetzwerk Bürgerschaftliches Engagement Baden Württemberg. However, this insurance cover is only subsidiary. This means that any other existing liability insurance must be taken out in advance in the event of a claim. For this insurance, the activity must take place in legally dependent structures. In this respect, clubs, associations, limited liability companies, foundations, etc. are not released from their obligations here either. In the event of a claim or if you have any questions about this insurance cover, please contact the insurance service provider, Ecclesia GmbH.
In principle, anyone can volunteer to run German language courses for asylum seekers living in the shared accommodation facilities in the Ludwigsburg district. Anyone wishing to receive an expense allowance only needs to provide proof of a sub-threshold qualification. A qualification can be acquired free of charge via a training course at the Schiller Adult Education Center. There are also a few other minimum requirements that must be met.
Further information on the requirements can be found in the following PDF file. The accounting form is available for download in Excel format:
The aim of the Ludwigsburg district is to ensure that all new immigrants are integrated into society by learning German. The district has therefore set itself the task of providing as many people as possible with a language course.
Refugees who do not have access to a BAMF integration course or DeuFöV courses have the following options:
