The Social Psychiatric Service offers information, advice and referrals for people who are no longer able to live independently due to mental illness. We provide support in the search for suitable help, including home visits and accompaniment if required. Our services are available to all residents of the district from the age of majority.
We provide advice to professionals from other services and facilities if their clients find themselves in a psychiatric crisis.
We are a team of socio-educational specialists. Our work complements medical, psychiatric and psychotherapeutic treatment. If medical diagnosis and treatment are not yet available, it is our primary task to initiate them. In accordance with the Mental Health Assistance Act, we provide help insofar as it is accepted voluntarily and serves to avoid protective measures and, in particular, institutionalization. Our aim is to promote the self-determination of those seeking advice and to make it easier for them to participate in social life. As far as possible, all services should take place in the familiar surroundings of those affected.

Social medical service
The Social Medical Service is responsible for crisis interventions within the framework of the Mental Health Assistance Act. The service cooperates with the relevant public order office and the district police authority.
On request, we advise relatives and people in the social environment on how to deal with the patient or the illness.
