About the project
With the PflegeAuszeit model project, the district of Ludwigsburg is testing a new concept for short-term care. Short-term care at home is intended to enable relatives with care and nursing responsibilities to take planned breaks of several days from everyday care. The project, which is funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Social Affairs from March 2024 to February 2027, is aimed at citizens in the district and is free of charge.
Project module I - Advice and support
As part of the PflegeAuszeit model project, family carers are to be supported in the implementation and organization of time off by using an informal
substitute care network. The project team provides advice and support. Together, we look at who from the extended family
or circle of friends and acquaintances can take on caring tasks during the absence of the family member providing care and whether additional
professional caregivers, such as outpatient services, day care or care services, can be used to provide support during the time out.
The process of establishing and expanding a network takes time, which is why it is important to contact us at an early stage so that we can provide optimum support in planning the time out.
Project module II - Café Auszeit
Come join us at Café Auszeit for get-togethers, socializing, and sharing experiences. Our program focuses on networking, exchanging experiences and information, and offering mutual encouragement and support. At Café Auszeit, you’ll meet family members with caregiving responsibilities from the Ludwigsburg district. Together, through conversation, we’d like to explore ways for you to carve out time for yourself amid the daily demands of caregiving and to keep your own health in mind. We’ll also provide insights on various topics related to caregiving.
Café Auszeit takes place once a month from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the common room of the senior living facility at Hermannstr. 12–14 in 70806 Kornwestheim.

- October 13, 2026: Dealing with People with Dementia (PflegeAuszeit Specialist Center)
- November 17, 2026: Long-Term Care Insurance Benefits (LRA LB Care Support Center)
Project module III - Digital and neighborhood-based meeting and exchange spaces
In addition to the district-wide Café Auszeit program, we’d also like to provide a digital space for networking and discussion. To that end, starting in January 2026, we’ll be offering one-hour digital discussion sessions via Microsoft Teams.

But the project isn’t limited to the digital space—it also operates directly in the neighborhood to connect family members with caregiving responsibilities locally. To this end, the plan is to link up with existing programs in several neighborhoods in
, to empower and connect family members providing care and support, and to offer a “listening ear” for their situation.
In Markgröningen, we offer the neighborhood-based program “Support Group for Family Members Providing Care and Support in Markgröningen.”
This takes place once a month at the Markgröningen Community Center, Turmgässle 3, on the following dates:

- September 14, 2026, 5:00 p.m.
