Hedges, living fences, bushes or reed beds may not be cleared, cut or destroyed in any other way between March 1 and September 30 of each year.
Natural monuments
Ageneral felling ban applies here. Of course, it may also be necessary to fell a natural monument. In these cases, the lower nature conservation authority will inspect the tree and then decide whether an exemption from the Natural Monument Ordinance must be granted.
The lower nature conservation authority must be informed in advance in the case of measures to safeguard traffic or maintenance measures.
In landscape conservation areas
Old, dying or diseased fruit trees may occasionally be felled outside the prohibited period. However, species protection regulations must be observed. If you discover a nest or nest cavity in the tree, please contact the local nature conservation authority. You should also do this if you want to remove several trees.
If a standard fruit tree is removed, it must be replaced by a new planting.
In residential areas
In some (usually newer) development plans, individual trees or groups of trees are protected by the development plan.
This means that these trees were classified as particularly worthy of preservation when the development plan was drawn up. Only the municipalities can allow an exception to such restrictions. Therefore, please ask your local authority before felling any trees.
Tree protection statutes
Some towns and municipalities in the district have drawn up a so-called tree protection statute, e.g. Bietigheim-Bissingen.
Here, trees above a certain trunk diameter are protected.
You can obtain more detailed information from your local authority.
