Anyone suffering from a mental illness can be placed in a psychiatric hospital (recognized facility) against their will, provided that this illness poses a risk to themselves or others.
Persons accommodated in accordance with the Mental Illness Assistance Act (PsychKHG) are treated and cared for in such a way that the purpose of the accommodation is achieved with the least possible interference with personal freedom.
The large district towns including the administrative communities or the Ludwigsburg District Office are responsible for all other localities in the Ludwigsburg district.
