The vehicle must be presented to the vehicle registration authority so that the vehicle identification number can be verified
General necessary documents:
- Identity card
- Identity card or passport of the future holder (a photocopy is sufficient). For companies: Business registration and extract from the commercial register
- Confirmation of insurance
- Confirmation of insurance in accordance with § 45 Para. 1 No. 1 of the Vehicle Registration Ordinance (FZV) in conjunction with the law on liability insurance for foreign motor vehicles and motor vehicle trailers
- Registration certificate part I (vehicle registration certificate)
- Registration certificate part II (vehicle registration document)
- Main inspection report
- If the main inspection has expired or if it is not evident from registration certificate Part I (vehicle registration document)
- License plate number (for a vehicle that is still registered)
- General obligation to present the vehicle
- Export license plates are only issued at the registration office in Ludwigsburg
Necessary documents for a power of attorney:
A power of attorney is required if the application is not submitted by the holder himself but by a person authorized by him (a power of attorney by fax is sufficient). The authorized person's identity document is required. The written power of attorney must state that the registration authority may inform the authorized representative of any outstanding fees and expenses from previous registration processes as well as any outstanding motor vehicle tax arrears or ancillary services for motor vehicle tax. The registration can only take place after payment of the overdue fees, expenses and motor vehicle tax, ancillary services for motor vehicle tax.
