Welcome visits
For mothers and fathers with newborns in the district
With the introduction of the Federal Child Protection Act, it was important to the legislator that parents of newborns are informed about support services, including during a home visit if desired.
These welcome visits are offered in all towns and municipalities in the district and are carried out by competent welcome visitors. Especially in this completely new phase of life, parents are faced with a variety of events and challenges. These preventative talks in familiar surroundings are intended to pave the way for parents in the sense of a mediating and guiding function. In addition to a welcome gift for the child and extensive information material on local services for families and babies, the visitor brings a sympathetic ear and appreciation for the new tasks. Depending on the questions asked by the "new" parents, understanding and encouragement, professional advice or very practical help with everything to do with the baby are provided in the joint discussion.
The implementation varies from municipality to municipality, as the visits are carried out by the municipalities themselves. In any case, you will receive a letter from your city/municipality in which you will receive further information on the welcome visit procedure in your place of residence.
If you have any questions, please contact the administration in your place of residence or the Coordination of Child Protection and Early Help.
