Tradesperson Parking Permit in Ludwigsburg County

The district-wide tradespeople’s parking permit includes a number of exemptions that make it easier for businesses to park their service, installation, or tool vans close to customers when parking conditions are difficult. As a joint initiative of Ludwigsburg County and its cities and municipalities, it only needs to be applied for once a year, is recognized in all 39 cities and municipalities, and is valid for 12 months from the date of issuance. The permit was developed as part of Ludwigsburg County’s future strategy.

Launch of the program: Applications for the district-wide tradespeople’s parking permit can be submitted starting September 1, 2026.

Exceptions to the Tradesperson Parking Permit:

The district-wide tradespeople’s parking permit allows tradespeople to park

  • at parking meters and in areas with parking ticket machines (public streets) without paying parking fees
  • in public parking lots without regard to the maximum parking duration (except in short-term parking zones under 30 minutes)
  • in areas with restricted stopping
  • in no-stopping zones, even outside the marked parking areas
  • in areas with resident parking

  • in traffic-calmed areas, even outside the marked areas

Terms of Use:

The tradesman parking permit does not supersede the State Traffic Regulations. Parked vehicles must not endanger or obstruct other road users. A minimum clear lane width of 3.05 m must be maintained. The terms of use listed on the permit letter apply.

The exemptions apply exclusively for the duration of on-site work at customer locations and only on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Eligible Businesses and Vehicles:

Businesses engaged in trade-related activities that require their vehicles for customer service calls near the job site are eligible to apply. The tradesperson parking permit may be used exclusively for service, repair, or installation vehicles (up to a maximum gross vehicle weight of 7.5 metric tons) that must be parked at the job site to perform the work. Up to three company vehicles may be registered per permit, with only one vehicle using the permit at a time.

Application and Fee:

Companies based in the Ludwigsburg district may apply for the tradespeople’s parking permit at their place of business or at the road traffic authority responsible for their place of business. Companies from other districts must apply for the permit at the location of their first job in the Ludwigsburg district. The annual fee is 200 euros.
