In this case, we therefore ask you to post the samples on Monday or Thursday evening (by 8 a.m. on Tuesday or Friday at the latest). Wild boar, domestic pigs, solipeds, badgers and other carnivorous animals that may be carriers of Trichinella must be tested for Trichinella after slaughter or after being killed by a hunter.

The Trichinella sample can be taken in two ways:

  • By the official meat inspection staff of the district office; in these cases, the carcass is marked with the appropriate stamp.
  • In the case of game: By the authorized hunter who has been trained and commissioned to do so in the case of wild boar that he has shot himself. A game origin tag must always be taken and the sample must be accompanied by a game origin certificate.

Game tags and game origin certificates can be requested from the Department of Veterinary Affairs and Consumer Protection.

The fee regulation below for an examination during normal office hours is suspended.

Fees

For Trichinella examinations that are not carried out in connection with a meat inspection (e.g. for hunted wild boar), the following fees are charged in accordance with No. 3 of the annex to § 2 of the Ludwigsburg District Office's ordinance on fees for public services for the official monitoring of products of animal origin intended for human consumption dated 05.02.2025:

  • Inspection during normal office hours € 2.75 per animal
  • Examination on special request outside office hours € 40.59 per animal (separate digestion fee).

If several animals, even from different fee debtors, are examined together in an extra approach, only the proportionate costs are to be borne by each fee debtor.
