Offers for mobility mix
There is hardly any other region where so many people commute to work every day as in the region around Stuttgart. In our district too, many employees cover longer distances on their way to work. Naturally, we would like as many of them as possible to choose the bicycle. Where this is not entirely possible, mobility mix offers help to make it easier to switch to environmentally friendly forms of mobility. Bicycles can make a decisive contribution, especially when it comes to covering the famous "last mile", which is why uncomplicated and flexible services such as secure parking facilities, bicycle transport and rental offers are an important component in the area of sustainable mobility. There is already a whole range of great offers in the district. Further information can also be found on the website of our sustainable mobility colleagues.
In combination with buses and trains, bicycles provide maximum mobility - for example for commuters on their way to work or for leisure travel on tours and excursions.
In the district of Ludwigsburg, which is part of the Stuttgart Transport Association (VVS), bicycles can be taken on board:
S-Bahn and local trains
- Free bicycle transport: Monday to Friday before 6:00 a.m. and after 9:00 a.m. as well as on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays
- Bicycle transport with children's ticket: Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Bus
Free bicycle transport on buses in the Ludwigsburg district:
- Monday to Friday (except public holidays) from 18:30 until close of service
- Saturday, Sunday and public holidays around the clock
Important: As a rule, up to two bicycles can be taken on each bus. During the journey, the bikes must be held on to or stowed safely. Persons with wheelchairs or baby carriages have priority.
By the way: Folded bicycles and e-scooters are considered to be objects according to the VVS conditions of carriage and can be carried free of charge at any time.

Bicycle parking garage at Bietigheim-Bissingen train station
Bietigheim-Bissingen is offering a special service for cyclists. Since December 2017, cyclists have been able to park their bikes in a dedicated bicycle parking garage. The parking garage, which has around 200 parking spaces, is video-monitored and only accessible with a parking ticket, so that even more expensive bikes can be safely stored there. The costs range from 50 cents (for one day) to 6 euros (for one month), and lockers with a power connection for charging batteries can also be rented.
More information can be found here.

The city of Ludwigsburg is also planning a second bicycle parking garage near the train station on the Schillerparkdeck. This will again be equipped with a workshop, washing facility and various services and will also offer space for cargo bikes.
In the Ludwigsburg region, there are lockable bicycle boxes at several (suburban) train
bike boxes, which can be rented for a year at a time. They allow commuters to use higher-quality bikes for their commute without having to worry about theft or vandalism. A helmet and rain gear can also stay in the box and don't have to be lugged around all day.

The Stuttgart Region has set itself the goal of becoming a model region for sustainable mobility. One component of this is the so-called "intermodal mobility points", which facilitate the linking of different means of transport at central locations: Ideally located at bus / S-Bahn and long-distance train stations, the facilities include P&R stations, cab ranks and car sharing as well as bicycle parking, bike rental systems and charging stations for e-bikes. This encourages commuters and travelers to increasingly switch to environmentally friendly means of transport, including cycling.
So far, a total of 13 such mobility hubs have been built, one of them in Ludwigsburg and therefore in our district.
