Notes for commercial investments

For the purposes of the waste management statutes of the Ludwigsburg district, commercially used properties include all premises not used as private residential areas, i.e. also clubhouses and public facilities. Businesses in this sense also include freelancers!

According to the waste management statutes, commercial enterprises are generally obliged to provide residual waste for public waste collection, i.e. to procure and use a waste container. There is an obligation to connect and use.

In justified individual cases, an exemption from the collection of commercial waste can be applied for.

Important!

If possible, please state your booking reference (5.015...., see fee notice) and the 7-digit container number as well as a telephone number where you can be reached during the day in all correspondence!

The basis for the waste fee assessment is the respective valid waste management statutes.

The waste fee is made up of an annual container fee and a fee based on the number of times the container is emptied (emptying fee).

The waste containers for residual waste and organic waste are fitted with a chip that registers all empties.

The annual container fees and advance payments for emptying are charged with the waste fee notice. Billing takes place with the next notification of charges.

Commercial waste fees for 2025

The container volume provided is the assessment basis for the annual container fee until the district is notified in writing that the container requirement has changed or that there is no longer a container requirement (e.g. in the event of a business deregistration).

The annual container fee is calculated according to the number, size and type of containers provided or, for the 660 l and 1,100 l residual waste containers, also according to the containers procured and registered for emptying.

The waste fee notices are sent out once a year. The assessment is based on the data as of December 31 of the previous year. Any changes occurring after this date are processed via an amendment notice.

An advance payment for the emptying fee is calculated in the waste fee notice. The calculation basis for the advance payment is the emptying volume of the previous year.

If a container was never emptied in a calendar year, one emptying will be charged as an advance payment for the following year.

The following advance payments are charged when a container is registered for the first time:

For 120 l and 240 l residual waste containers

12 emptyings

For 660 l and 1,100 l residual waste containers

Please note that a separate SEPA direct debit mandate must be issued for each booking reference.

Container reordering

The form "Waste disposal declaration" is available at the trade offices. This form must be completed, signed and sent to the Ludwigsburg District Office - Waste Fees Department - within two weeks of registering your business.

It serves your duty to provide information to the district office about your waste disposal and at the same time gives you the opportunity to order your container requirements from the district office.

If you wish, you can download the waste disposal declaration. If necessary, we can also send you the form.

In any case, you must notify the district administration office of your business registration. Therefore, please enclose a copy of the business registration with the form or submit it later.

Container deregistration

The obligation to pay fees for commercial enterprises ends at the end of the calendar month in which the container is collected. The District Office - Waste Fees Department - must be informed in writing that there is no longer a need for a container. You can do this using a form which you can download.

Please do not forget to deregister your business with the relevant trade office. In any case, you must notify the District Office - Waste Fees Department - of the cessation of your business. This can be done either by sending a copy of the business deregistration or a written notification.

Container reordering

If you have a change request for your container installation or require a new container, please inform the District Office - Waste Fees Department - in writing. You can do this using a form which you can download.

Container pools

If several businesses and commercial establishments are located on the same property or on a directly adjacent property, they can apply to the district administration office to join forces and use the waste containers jointly. In this case, a commercial enterprise must be named to the district administration office as the contact person for the billing of the emptying fee.

On properties that are used both commercially and privately, it may be possible to dispose of commercial waste via the household waste garbage cans. However, the following conditions must be met:

  • The volume of commercial waste must not exceed 120 liters per month.
  • The recipient of the residual waste container must inform the District Office - Waste Fees Department - in writing that he/she agrees to this shared container.

There are no additional costs for shared containers apart from the fees stated above!

In individual cases, the district may, upon application, grant exemption from the provisions on the type and manner of transfer if the implementation of a provision would lead to an obviously unintended hardship and the deviation is compatible with public interests.

The exemption is limited exclusively to commercial municipal waste similar to household waste and does not apply to waste from households.

The application for exemption must be accompanied by the following: detailed justification explaining the hardship; a valid certificate from the disposal company, a letter of confirmation and proof of orderly waste disposal of residual waste for the last 3 months up to the final destination (e.g. delivery bills).

The exemption can be revoked at any time, is limited in time and includes an administrative fee taking into account the administrative effort, the importance of the object and the economic interests for the fee debtor (at least €500).

Please note that delivery of the waste garbage cans takes two to three weeks. So order in good time!

Damaged bins will be replaced free of charge if the defect is due to age-related damage. All you need to do is call the waste charges department or send an e-mail

Commercial businesses are excluded from bulky waste, scrap metal and electronic waste collection. This waste can be delivered to the Burghof landfill site in Horrheim as commercial waste.
