The Climate Protection and Sustainable Mobility business units regularly plan events for citizens in the district of Ludwigsburg. These and other event tips from the district can be found here on an ongoing basis.
Support programs
The district of Ludwigsburg itself does not provide any subsidies for PV systems. Some municipalities in the district offer funding programs for plug-in solar devices or rooftop PV systems. You can find an overview of municipal funding programs on the website of the Ludwigsburg District Energy Agency. There you will also find detailed information on federal and state funding programs.

Citizens' energy companies (BEG)
Citizens' energy cooperatives (BEG) offer the opportunity to profit from the generation of renewable energies. To this end, interested citizens join together to form a cooperative or similar organization. The citizens' energy company uses the joint capital to build a wind turbine or solar park. Once completed, the plant generates electricity that is either sold locally or on the electricity exchange. The income covers the running costs, while the surpluses are paid out to the members or invested in new projects.
Community energy offers many advantages:
- financial participation: Citizens get the chance to earn annual returns
- democratic co-determination: members can have a say in the direction of the energy projects
- local value creation: profits remain in the region and do not flow to external companies
At the same time, investments in a BEG are associated with entrepreneurial risk. This is particularly true if the community energy company initiates the project and therefore holds all project rights.
Alternatively, a citizens' energy company can participate in energy projects by purchasing shares in the company operating the wind or solar park. Indirect participation through subordinated loans and profit participation rights is also possible. However, this is only a financial participation that does not affect the design of the project. The minimum investment amount is usually lower in this case.
