General information
The road traffic authority is primarily responsible for the safety and ease of road traffic.
It decides where and which traffic signs and traffic facilities are to be installed (e.g. speed limits, stopping bans, traffic lights).
It issues traffic law orders to secure work sites in public traffic areas for municipal, district, state and federal roads in the district (see Responsibilities).
It decides on the granting of exemptions from road traffic regulations (e.g. driving in pedestrian zones, driving on closed roads, exemption from stopping and parking bans, Sunday driving bans for trucks, large and heavy goods vehicles).
