School enrollment examinations
Your child will soon be starting pre-school and thus a new stage of life. To ensure that all children (in Baden-Württemberg, school enrolment examinations are mandatory) start school as well as possible, we examine them in the penultimate year of kindergarten. This enables us to identify health and developmental problems in good time before they start school and to take advantage of the opportunities for the earliest possible support. Social medical assistants (usually "pediatric nurses") test and examine the children. The aim is to determine whether the future pupils are developing appropriately for their age.
Following the tests, doctors from the public health department advise the parents, if necessary, on what specific support should be provided before the child starts school.
In the last year of kindergarten, the doctors then have the opportunity to examine individual children again in order to track their developmental progress. If it appears that the child is not yet ready for school, the doctors will explain the next options and steps to the parents.

Investigations
School aptitude:
If a child misses a lot of days of school, the school can ask the parents for a certificate from a public health officer stating that the child is fit for school. This examination is carried out by our pediatricians. Please contact our office to make an appointment.
