► "I see something you don't see" on 9.11.2023
Bönnigheim, Gerlingen and Markgröningen competed against each other as part of the district's anniversary celebrations. The third discipline of the District Olympics was entitled "I see something you don't see". What it was all about remained unclear until the very end. It was not until Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 9 a.m. that the task was announced by the district administrator via video message.
What an exciting challenge for the municipalities! On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, all participating municipalities Bönnigheim, Gerlingen and Markgröningen were connected in an online conference and presented us with their great costumes.
► "Snail race" on 16.10.2023
Erligheim, Löchgau and Schwieberdingen took part in another spontaneous discipline as part of the district's anniversary celebrations. This discipline of the District Olympics was also initially a secret affair. On Monday, October 9th, the District Administrator announced via video message what was behind the ominous title "Snail Race".
Award ceremony
The jury consisting of 10 people - representatives of the district administration and other municipalities in the district, representatives of the press and experts - did not make it easy for themselves and examined and evaluated all the exhibits submitted in detail.
Löchgau came first in the overall ranking with 121.9 points, closely followed by Erligheim with 119 points and Schwieberdingen with 116.71 points. Of course, there was also a prize for first place. The municipality of Löchgau was delighted to receive a voucher for a guided tour by the Neckarguides in the Neckar biotope Zugwiesen.
In addition, two exhibits were honored with a special prize:
- the "Snail Choir", a video contribution from Erligheim town hall, and
- a wooden mobile, created by Rita Müller from Löchgau and others
You can see all the exhibits and the announcement of the winners in our recording.
► "Political duel" on 24.7.2023
On July 24, 2023, District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier hosted a "political duel" at the district office's nutrition center as part of the district Olympics to mark the district's anniversary. The four municipalities of Asperg, Pleidelsheim, Steinheim and Tamm took part. Just before the event began, the district administrator announced their task to the representatives of the municipalities. The "political duel" turned into a cooking duel.
The task was to cook a Swabian menu for 4 people - consisting of foraged ravioli filled with vegetables, potato salad and leaf salad as side dishes and a dessert of their choice. Of course, there was no recipe and only the ingredients provided (including some unsuitable ingredients) could be used.
The teams had three hours. The event was hosted by Markus Klohr and broadcast live on YouTube. Viewers were asked to actively support their community with tips and recipe suggestions. In fact, the chat on YouTube was buzzing and numerous tips and suggestions for the kitchen teams were received, many of which were implemented directly by the participants.
The seven-member jury consisted of: District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier, Mr. Klaus Herrmann, Head of the Gerlingen City Archive and member of the Ludwigsburg District Council, from Markgröningen City Councillor Erich Hutfus (CDU), Ms. Pachaly (Head of Department FB 27 Agriculture); Ms.Scheel (Head of GT 274 Nutrition, Training, Home Economics) and from the press Ms. Karin Götz, Head of the Ludwigsburg District Joint Editorial Department, StZ | StN | MZ, and from the Ludwigsburger Kreiszeitung Mr. Stephan Wolf, Head of the District Department. The jury then evaluated the creations in a blind tasting and were full of praise for the great and tasty creations of all the participating municipalities. But only one could win...
And the winner was...
Pleidelsheim! With 354 points, the municipality of Pleidelsheim was able to claim victory! It was followed by Asperg with 348 points, Steinheim an der Murr with 331 points and Tamm with 319 points.
The prize for the municipal council of the winning municipality was a wine experience in a glass at Lembergerland in Vaihingen-Rosswag.
And the next competition grew out of the political duel....
Wetten dass...
The citizens of Pleidelsheim managed to collect 10 times the body weight of the district administrator in relief supplies for the food banks throughout the district. Mayor Ralf Trettner and district administrator Dietmar Allgaier made this bet during the award ceremony for the cooking duel.
The result exceeded all expectations. Instead of the hoped-for 1,000 kilograms, it ended up being 2,000 kilograms of food, which will be distributed to five food banks in the district. The district administrator will come to the Ludwigstafel on October 30, 2023 from 2:30 p.m. to help with the distribution.
► Graffiti
A graffiti project under the motto LDWGZBRG INK offered pupils scope for creativity and identification. What connects us to Ludwigsburg, what are the highlights here? The three best designs were sprayed together with Remseck graffiti artist Simon Löchner on the B27 pedestrian underpass.

► Anniversary cycle path
You can cycle around the district in the truest sense of the word - along idyllic forests and open fields, but also through towns and villages. Various starting points allow you to plan your cycle tour individually to explore individual sections or, of course, the entire tour.
► Anniversary wine
Winegrowing has been a tradition in the district of Ludwigsburg for centuries and is therefore of great importance. The district has a share of around 18% of the Württemberg wine-growing region. The numerous steep slopes characterize the cultural landscape in a special way. They are the hallmark of local viticulture and produce outstanding wines.
In 2023, a cuvée created especially for the anniversary from steep-slope cultivation will be presented. With a special anniversary label, the red wine will only be served on certain occasions and will be available as an exclusive gift.
► Anniversary book
What makes the district of Ludwigsburg so special? What makes it a home for people? Well-known and fascinating personalities such as former Federal President Horst Köhler, "Pur" frontman Hartmut Engler, the mentally handicapped table tennis pro Hartmut Freund and violin virtuoso Ursula Schoch give their very personal answers with their very personal perspectives in the opulent illustrated book "Landkreis Ludwigsburg Heimat - Verbunden". The book was produced as part of the anniversary year "50 years of the Ludwigsburg district" and can also be ordered from bookshops.
