Actions & projects

Here you can find projects that will either be carried out in the coming months or will be repeated over the years.

Written information, often including press reports, is available from Department V - Health and Consumer Protection for all the events listed.

National Cancer Prevention Week is a joint initiative of German Cancer Aid, the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and the German Cancer Society. This year, it will take place from September 1 to 7, 2025. The aim of the initiative is to raise public awareness of the importance of cancer prevention.

The Ludwigsburg Health Department is taking National Cancer Prevention Week as an opportunity to draw attention to the topics of bowel cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer and prostate cancer with a variety of campaigns from the beginning of September to mid-October 2025. The aim is to sensitize different population groups to the importance of cancer prevention and early detection and to motivate them to take an active approach to their own health.

Cancer in Germany - facts & figures:

  • The number of new cases each year is around 510,000 (and rising).
  • With over 230,000 deaths per year, cancer is the second most common cause of death in Germany.
  • Up to 50% of all cancers are considered preventable if risk factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, lack of exercise, an unhealthy diet and certain infections are consistently avoided and early detection examinations are carried out.

Free PSA measurement for men aged 45 and over!

Please note:

Here you will find important information that you should consider before a PSA examination.

The examination will take place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Health Department, Hindenburgstraße 20/1, 71638 Ludwigsburg.
In order to ensure a smooth and fair organization, advance registration by telephone is required. Appointments are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested men can register by calling the health department on 07141 144-2520.

The PSA measurement, in which blood is taken from a vein, is an uncomplicated examination that provides valuable information about changes in the prostate. Every day, an average of around eight people in Germany are infected with the HI virus. We have more infected people than ever before. As prevention is the only protection against HIV infection and a later AIDS disease, intensive educational work must continue to be carried out.

The Health Department's "Aids course" provides information on the Aids problem without pointing a finger. At five game stations, pupils can discuss the topics of love, sexuality, contraception and Aids in small groups and test their knowledge.

Interested schools in the Ludwigsburg district can make an appointment for the Aids course with the health department.

Under the motto "Let's talk about sex", young people are trained as multipliers (peers). In the seminars, which build on each other over three afternoons and a weekend, interested young people are offered training on various topics such as love, sexuality, partnership, contraception, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, sexual orientation, norms and values in sexuality, project planning and group dynamics.

In cooperation with Caritas Ludwigsburg (specialist advice center for eating disorders), we offer the prevention project "Is(s) was?!" for girls from grade 7. The creative and experience-oriented workshop lasts approx. 4-5 hours and is held on site at the respective institution. We work on the topics of beauty, media, feelings and food, diets, eating disorders, counseling and self-strengthening. Please refer to the flyer for more information. In addition, further training is offered for educational professionals on the topic of eating disorders so that they can independently carry out prevention programs on the above-mentioned topics with the help of a "toolbox" full of practical methods.

Period: Appointment by arrangement

Nutrition is a very important part of a child's development. The first tendencies towards malnutrition are often set at a young age. But what is healthy? How many sweets are good for a child? What ingredients do different foods contain? These and many other questions are answered in a playful way on the nutrition trail. Participants can test their knowledge at 5 play stations. All the senses are involved and stimulated.

The course is suitable for pre-school children, schoolchildren and adults and is adapted to the respective age group.

Teaching units, action days, multiplier training courses, film events etc. are offered for pupils from the 10th grade, students and interested citizens. There is also the opportunity to exchange ideas with transplant recipients.

Consists of four stations on the following topics:

The Yellow Pages: Getting to know the vaccination card, basic immunization, booster vaccinations
Vaccination roulette: answer general vaccination questions by playing roulette numbers
Mix & match symptom puzzle: match patient pictures of vaccine-preventable diseases to the names of diseases and symptoms
Wanderlust without frustration: identify countries from pictures and answer travel medicine questions
Takes 1.5 hours

Target group: Pupils from the 8th grade, adults

The topic of "sun protection and skin cancer" is still highly topical. For years, we have been offering campaigns in outdoor swimming pools with an information stand, sun hat painting campaign for children, wheel of fortune, throwing game, etc.

Events for children, parents and multiplier training courses for nursery school teachers can also be requested.
