LUCIE light rail
LUCIE is the name of the light rail system that we are developing in the Ludwigsburg district. The new name LUCIE stands for Ludwigsburger City-Express and is our program: in future, fast light rail services will run from the surrounding area of Schwieberdingen and Markgröningen to the city of Ludwigsburg, and from the city on to Pattonville and Remseck-Aldingen. The largest rail infrastructure project in the district will make a sustainable contribution to climate protection by offering an attractive alternative to the car.

The special-purpose association Stadtbahn:
The project is to be implemented by the Zweckverband Stadtbahn im Landkreis Ludwigsburg. Members of the special-purpose association are
- the district of Ludwigsburg (50 %),
- the city of Ludwigsburg (25 %),
- as well as the neighboring municipalities of Markgröningen, Möglingen, Remseck a.N. Schwieberdingen and the Pattonville special-purpose association.
The Zweckverband Stadtbahn im Landkreis Ludwigsburg will plan, build and later operate the light rail system in the district of Ludwigsburg. This is stated in the association's statutes. The tasks of the special-purpose association also include applying for and collecting the generous subsidies: in particular those in accordance with the Municipal Transport Financing Act (GVFG) and the Act on the Planning, Organization and Design of Local Public Transport (ÖPNVG BW). Furthermore, the special-purpose association will apply for the planning approval decision (i.e. the right to build, so to speak) and prepare the corresponding plans, expert opinions and evidence.
