If you want to operate an arcade, you need a license in accordance with Section 41 (1) of the State Gambling Act (LGlüG).
The permit is tied to a specific person, specific premises and a specific type of operation (arcade or similar business). Any change to this (e.g. change of ownership) requires a new permit.
The arcade must meet the following requirements:
- The minimum distance to the nearest arcade must be at least 500 m as the crow flies, measured from entrance door to entrance door.
- A minimum distance of 500 m as the crow flies, measured from entrance door to entrance door, must be maintained from existing facilities for children and young people (schools, sports grounds, youth centers, etc.).
Responsible body
The responsibility for the approval of an amusement arcade is based on the responsibility under building law. This means that for the area of the large district towns including the administrative communitiesand the municipalities with their own building law jurisdictionare responsible. The district administration office is responsible for the other municipalities.
