Since November 2021, the RKH Klinikum Ludwigsburg has been offering the comprehensive care service "Immediate help after rape" for all people aged 14 and over who have experienced sexualized violence. At the request of those affected, the service includes legally compliant, confidential evidence collection directly at the hospital. It is not necessary to report the incident or involve the police. With the consent of those affected, they can also be referred to a specialist counseling center. Further details can be found in the attached flyer. The Ludwigsburg District Office is responsible for this project.
The hand signal is a silent distress call in situations in which victims of violence are unable to communicate otherwise. This may be the case, for example, if the perpetrator is present and a verbal call for help would lead to an escalation.
To raise the alarm signal, raise your hand to an inconspicuous height, with the palm of your hand facing the person for whom the signal is intended. Then place your thumb in the palm of your hand and close your hand to form a fist.
In addition, the police advise you to always draw attention to the emergency situation verbally if possible and to understand the "Signal for Help" not as a substitute, but as a supplement to other forms of emergency calls.
