The aim of "company" or "official" mobility management (BMM) is to make commuting to work and business trips more sustainable. The aim is to reduce car traffic and thusCO2 emissions. Employees should be supported in making the switch and motivated by incentives. Processes in the vehicle fleet or parking management are optimized and designed to be as climate-friendly as possible.

How can mobility in the district office become more sustainable?
The following measures have been developed in the administration to make mobility in the district office more sustainable. They are to be implemented gradually:
- Promoting the use of public transport (financial incentives as well as regular information for staff, travel time comparisons and much more)
- Promoting cycling and walking with the help of infrastructure (bicycle parking facilities), financial incentives and campaigns (Winter Bike to Work Day, CITY CYCLING, competitions, etc.)
- Promotion of more sustainable means of transportation for business trips (company pedelecs, new business trip regulations with compensation for business trips cycled)
- Optimization and digitalization of the vehicle fleet
- Diverse information for employees on offers, routes and accessibility of individual locations by sustainable means of transport
- Long-term improvement of the district administration office's transport connections by optimizing the public transport and cycle path network
Free bike check at the Ludwigsburg district office

At RadCheck, cyclists can have their bike checked free of charge. Small repairs, such as inflating tires, checking the lighting system, tightening brakes or oiling the chain, are carried out directly on site. The bike professionals also provide tips for maintenance and lots of information about cycling.
The RadCHECK usually takes place on the administrative campus at Hindenburgstraße 20 (health department). Prior registration is not necessary.

The RadCheck is a campaign as part of the state initiative RADKULTUR, which aims to promote the joy and naturalness of everyday cycling in Baden-Württemberg.
Incentives for sustainable employee mobility
The district administration office promotes employee mobility in various ways. In addition to providing low-cost parking spaces, the choice of climate-friendly means of transport is now increasingly being promoted.
Since 2013, employees of the district administration office have received a subsidy of 75 percent for public transport tickets (maximum 80 euros per month).
The district council has decided that from January 2023, the district office will offer a mileage allowance for employees who cycle to work. 30 cents for each kilometer of the one-way journey to work, capped at 80 euros per month in line with the public transport travel allowance, can be received as an incentive. Around 13% of employees currently use a bicycle (according to a 2020 survey), although over 60% live within a "bikeable" distance of less than 15 kilometers. The aim is to increase this proportion to at least 24% by 2030.
The introduction of a bicycle mileage allowance is intended to support the switch and is therefore another important step on the way to a climate-neutral administration.
Events for employees
The district administration office regularly holds various events to draw attention to its sustainable mobility options and motivate employees to actively use them for their commutes to and from work.
The first Mobility Day for employees took place on September 30, 2022 - with workshops on safe cycling, a free bike check, coding options and a variety of information and activity stands.
The Mobility Day took place in the newly renovated multi-storey parking lot, which was inaugurated early on the same day by District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. Further information can be found at Directionsand News
Walking and cycling are healthy - which is why the topic of "self-active mobility" was also part of the Health Day 2023. In addition to awarding the winners of the CITY CYCLING competition, the event provided a wealth of information on climate-friendly mobility options at the district administration office, healthy cycling and much more.
Electromobility on the administrative campus
In recent years, the district administration office has converted part of its vehicle fleet to e-mobility and continuously developed the charging infrastructure at the district administration office
The conversion of the fleet, which previously consisted mainly of diesel vehicles, is intended to make a significant contribution to reducingCO2 emissions. In addition to individual diesel vehicles, the central vehicle fleet, to which all employees of the district administration office have access, now includes more than 15 electric and hybrid vehicles. Further electric and hybrid vehicles are assigned directly to individual departments.
Funding via three federal funding programs
Funding for the e-mobility project was obtained from three federal funding programs: the municipal guideline of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), the "Clean Air Immediate Action Program" of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWI).
