The great thing about climate protection? Everyone can get involved!

Climate protection is a joint task: it requires the commitment of politics, public administration, business and civil society. There is hardly any area of life in which the question of how we can make it more sustainable can be ignored. Find your own way to participate in climate protection. Sometimes it is the small steps that ultimately help us to achieve the big climate goal.

Perhaps our events will also help you to follow your own personal climate protection path.

Sustainable living? That sounds great! But how?

Baden-Württemberg is planning to be climate-neutral by 2040. To achieve this, we need to reduce our per capita emissionsto one ton ofCO2 per year. The current figure is around 11 tons(Federal Environment Agency) - so we still have a lot to do! Not all emissions are in our own hands; some are caused by the infrastructure we use in cities, for example, and to a large extent by the industry we benefit from. However, whether in terms of nutrition and consumption, housing or mobility, there are many ways for everyone to make their everyday lives more climate-friendly.

With the Federal Environment Agency'sCO2 calculator, you can calculate your footprint - i.e. your starting balance - in just a few steps and find out in which areas you have the greatest potential to make savings.

If you really want to get started with climate protection in your everyday life, you will find plenty of tips online:
vegan diet, cycling more often, shopping without packaging, repairing instead of throwing away and lots of energy-saving tips. With challenges such as climate fasting, you can try out the first tips in a fun way.

Major investments will be needed over the next few years to protect the climate and, in particular, for the energy transition. These will pay off very quickly, especially in the private sector. Electricity from renewable energies is so cheap that a photovoltaic system on the roof, for example, pays for itself after around 10 years and provides free electricity for a long time from then on.

Renovating a house, installing a photovoltaic system in combination with a heat pump or switching to an electric car - the federal and state governments offer a wide range of funding opportunities for your investments. Some district councils have also set up additional funding programs for climate protection.
And you can also make a contribution with a smaller budget, e.g. with a balcony solar system. SWR has summarized how this works in an "Ökochecker" video.

Anyone who wants to invest sustainably but does not have the opportunity to implement structural measures within their own four walls, for example, will find a wide range of options on the financial markets. While conventional forms of investment often finance fossil fuels at least in part, sustainable forms of investment actively promote the energy transition. Find out more online - for example at FNG or at www.fairfinancejuide.de - and at your bank.

If you want to make an impact beyond your own everyday life, you can get involved in associations and initiatives for more climate protection or set up projects such as community gardening, swap meets or a cargo bike rental service in your own community. On the website https://climateconnect.earth/de you can find projects all over the world and also register them yourself. In addition, https://www.kartevonmorgen.org/m/main shows the wealth of offers for sustainable living - in the categories initiative, event and company. Be inspired and get active yourself!

Would you like to implement climate protection not only in your leisure time, but also in your everyday working life? This dream can become reality. Whether in administration, research, initiatives and agencies or especially in the skilled trades - there are many "Jobs for Future". The Employment Agency and the Ludwigsburg Careers Information Center (BiZ) will be happy to advise you. A first step can be taken with the Check-U - the exploration tool for training and studies.

The State Energy Agency KEA-BW provides an overview of vacancies in the field of climate protection and energy transition in Baden-Württemberg.

The regional energy agency in the Ludwigsburg district, LEA e.V., also offers internships and permanent positions.

At the district administration office, the climate protection team offers the opportunity to gain initial experience in the field of municipal climate protection as part of an internship.
