Climate change adaptation

The consequences of the climate crisis can already be measured and felt in the district of Ludwigsburg. And according to climate models, the effects of the climate crisis will continue and intensify in the future. We in the district of Ludwigsburg must therefore also expect increasingly frequent heavy rainfall events, heatwaves, drought damage and the increased occurrence of pests. This makes it clear once again that even the most ambitious climate protection measures do not make climate adaptation superfluous.

KLIMOPASS funding program

As part of the KLIMOPASS funding program of the state of Baden-Württemberg, the district administration has therefore developed a vulnerability study for the district of Ludwigsburg together with the consulting firm alpS GmbH. This final report "Analyses and approaches for adapting to climate change" shows the development of the future climate and initial adaptation measures. As in the area of climate protection, adaptation to climate change must also take place on many levels. Not all measures for dealing with the expected climate impacts are the direct responsibility of the district of Ludwigsburg, but also at the level of the state, the region, the cities and municipalities or even in private hands. However, the measures developed here are limited to concrete activities that can be implemented by the district of Ludwigsburg.

KLIMOPASS is a funding program of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector and enables municipalities to make a structured start on the topic of climate change adaptation.

Klim:S21 - The climate adaptation game

The Heidelberg University of Education has developed an online game on climate change adaptation. Suitable educational materials are available for embedding in school lessons, but "Klim:S21" can also be played privately.

The regional consequences of climate change are illustrated in different natural environments and areas of use, such as a river landscape or a special crop. Players can choose appropriate adaptation measures and see the direct protective effect of the measures against the consequences of climate change.

The project was funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection.
