Wusel, the clever little forest mouse, has suddenly disappeared! But the first clues suggest that she was last seen in the forest. What's the story behind her disappearance? And can the children solve the mystery together with their families?
Visitors follow in Wusel's footsteps at eight lovingly designed stations. In a playful way, they not only get to know the forest habitat better, but also encounter other forest animals - such as the fox, the owl or the woodpecker - who provide small clues or set tasks. The trail tells a continuous story that unfolds station by station - from the first mysterious clue to the resolution at the end.
"The aim is to get children excited about the forest, encourage exercise in the fresh air and enable a shared adventure," explains Dr. Simon Boden, Head of the Forest Department at the Ludwigsburg District Office. "As our forest education programs in the district are primarily aimed at schools and other educational institutions, it is important to us that the forest adventure trail also offers kindergartens and families an opportunity to go on an adventure and discover the forest for themselves."
A nature-oriented vacation offer for families and groups
The circular trail is around one to one and a half kilometers long and takes around one and a half to two hours. It starts at the Bruchwald hiking parking lot in Löchgau. The trail is particularly suitable for families with children aged four and over and for kindergarten groups.
The forest adventure trail will be open for around six weeks from June 4, 2025. Participation is free of charge and registration is not necessary. The Wuselpfad can be navigated using a treasure map, which playfully illustrates the route and stations of the trail. Some copies are available directly at the starting point in the forest. The map can also be downloaded from the forestry department's website from June 4:

Sturdy footwear is recommended to make the forest experience safe and enjoyable. Visitors should also remember to wear tick protection. To ensure that as many families as possible enjoy the experience, the Ludwigsburg District Office asks that you do not damage the stations, mark any solutions or anticipate any clues.
Discoveries can be shared on social media
The trail was created during the coronavirus pandemic as an alternative forest education program. The mobile stations have been in place since 2021. They are moved to new locations every year. After the stop in Löchgau, Wusel moves on to Korntal-Münchingen.
Anyone who takes a souvenir photo along the way can share it on Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #WuselErlebnispfad and link the Ludwigsburg District Office.
