Living / Accommodation
Together with the towns and municipalities, the district provides accommodation for asylum seekers. The district is responsible for the temporary accommodation of asylum seekers assigned by the state of Baden-Württemberg.
Services
Under certain conditions, asylum seekers can apply for benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act. These range from basic benefits to cover daily needs, benefits in the event of illness, pregnancy and childbirth to care benefits and integration assistance.
Social counseling and support
Advice and support covers everyday topics such as kindergarten and school, work and training, dealing with authorities and institutions, social benefits as well as specific issues relating to residence law, health and language services.
Unaccompanied minor aliens (UMA)
Youth welfare services are responsible for the accommodation and care of unaccompanied minor aliens (UMA). Once they have been assigned by the regional placement office, it is the task of the General Social Service to find suitable accommodation for the young people and to appoint a guardian.
Language courses "VwV German"
Asylum seekers who do not have access to a BAMF integration course can attend a state-subsidized German language course under certain conditions. The district has been offering language courses for this group of people with unclear prospects of remaining in Germany since 2015.
Return counseling
Since 2008, the district has been offering advice and organizational support to all refugees who wish to return to their home country voluntarily. The aim of return counseling is to enable refugees to re-establish a livelihood in their home country.
