How to upload and edit files
To upload files to the TYPO3 system or edit existing ones, go to the "File list" module.
Here you can see an overview of all directory trees that are activated for you.
To create a new folder, first click on the folder / node under which you want to create a new folder. Then click on the "Create folder" button.
In the pop-up that opens, check again that the correct folder is selected under which you want to create a new folder. Then assign a new folder name (observe the rules here!) and click on the "Create folder" button on the right.
The new folder has been created. Click on the "X" icon at the top right to close the pop-up window.
Briefly check the settings that "Show preview images" is active and then press the "Upload files" button. Once "Show preview images" has been activated, it will be permanently active for you.
You now select files from your computer and the upload process is executed, as shown by the upload bar. Please wait here until everything is finished.
After uploading, the file size is displayed for all files and the icon at the front left has also changed. Now press the "Refresh" button above the file list.
After refreshing the view, you will see the preview images on the image files. You must now edit each uploaded file by clicking on the pencil button. Editing is necessary for reasons of accessibility.
Now assign a meaningful title for the image. The alternative text is generated fully automatically by an AI, but can be overwritten if necessary if it does not quite fit. This so-called alt tag of the image is a must for accessibility. Now click "Save" and you can continue to use this file in content elements.
The upload process is identical for PDF files (see above). Again, wait for the upload process until all loading bars have completely disappeared and the file size is displayed.
After pressing the "Refresh" button, a preview image is also displayed for the PDF files. Now edit each file individually again.
Assign a meaningful title again and, if necessary, a further description of the PDF file. The Alt tag is not available for PDF files and is not necessary. Now click "Save" and you can use the files in content elements.
