Cities and municipalities decide on possible closures of their barbecue areas
Fires may only be lit at officially designated and marked fire pits. Barbecuing is permitted exclusively at authorized barbecue areas, provided there are no official restrictions in place. Decisions regarding potential closures are made by the respective cities and municipalities responsible for the barbecue areas. For example, the cities of Sachsenheim and Gerlingen have already closed their barbecue areas.
General smoking ban in forests from March 1 through October 31
As a general rule: Barbecuing with your own equipment is prohibited in the forest. Outside the forest, open fires must be at least 100 meters away from the forest edge. In addition, there is a general smoking ban in forests from March 1 through October 31.
Before leaving the barbecue area, completely extinguish fires, embers, and ashes
To prevent fires, flying sparks and open embers must be avoided at all costs. Barbecue areas must never be left unattended. Before leaving, fires, embers, and ashes must be completely extinguished. Cigarette butts or hot ashes must never be discarded in nature.
Prevent forest fires through cautious behavior
The district recommends checking for current advisories from the respective city or municipality before going on outings or hosting barbecue events. By acting responsibly, everyone can help prevent forest fires and protect people, nature, and emergency responders.
