From November 4 to 9 in and around the Kreishaus and in the first extension building: the late market attracts visitors with the beautiful sides of autumn

Appetizing aromas, cosy places to stop for a bite to eat and colourfully decorated stalls - visitors can enjoy the beautiful side of autumn from 4 to 9 November at the 27th Spätlingsmarkt in and around the Ludwigsburg district hall and in the first extension building. Craft businesses, associations, guilds, clubs and exhibitors from partner and friendly counties in Hungary, Italy, France, Israel and Saxony as well as from the district of Ludwigsburg itself will once again be presenting their diverse regional specialties.

A group of officials sits at a conference table in a meeting room, discussing matters related to local governance. A logo for "Landratsamt Ludwigsburg" is displayed on the wall behind them, reinforcing the setting's official nature. Notebooks, pens, and water bottles are visible on the table.

Press conference on the Spätlingsmarkt 2024.

"The concept of the Spätlingsmarkt is as innovative today as it was at the start in 1997: exhibitors from the district and from our partner regions present the diversity of their products. These are produced in a way that conserves resources and is socially responsible. Sustainability - a common trend today - has been a top priority at the Spätlingsmarkt for 27 years. Regional and international - that's what makes the Spätlingsmarkt so special," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. First State Official Jürgen Vogt adds: "The Spätlingsmarkt is an attractive platform for producers who focus on regionality and direct marketing. For visitors, the market is a great place to meet, talk and enjoy. Last but not least, the Spätlingsmarkt is a wonderful opportunity to cultivate relationships with partners and friends of the district."

Accompanying program: from Maultaschen tasting to comedy wine tasting

The Spätlingsmarkt once again has an attractive accompanying program: On Tuesday, 5 November, there will be a series of lectures on the topic of steep slopes from 2.30 pm. On Wednesday, November 6, 3 pm, there will be a Maultaschen tasting with Olli Häcker, on Thursday, November 7, 4 pm, the sausage quality test of the butchers' guild and afterwards, at 6 pm, the young winegrowers' after-work party. The comedy wine tasting "Durchs Weinglas betrachtet" with "Frau Nägele" on Friday, November 8, 2 pm, will take place this year with wines from Felsengartenkellerei. The venue is the large conference room of the district hall.

"For me, it's the uniqueness that makes the Spätlingsmarkt so special. Consumers and producers from the region and from the partner regions come together and talk to each other. Where else do you get these opportunities? The long-standing consistency shows how successful the event is. Changes and additions keep the Spätlingsmarkt up to date. And hopefully for a long time to come," says Marie-Luise Linckh, Chairwoman of the Ludwigsburg District Countrywomen's Association, who have been involved in the Late Harvest Market from the very beginning. "The Spätlingsmarkt Ludwigsburg is the largest platform for regional products from the entire district. Here, many farmers present their products, which grow on the best soil in the district. Regionality is demonstrated here and the importance of preserving and maintaining our cultural landscape is made clear," says Michael Kinzinger, member of the board of the Heilbronn-Ludwigsburg Farmers' Association. "I thought the idea of an annual regional market was an excellent idea right from the start and the Ludwigsburg District Office as a special hub to bring the diversity of the district closer to our citizens. Of course, the integration of our partner communities is also part of this. For us, the Fessler Mühle, it was and is a special platform for gaining new customers and, of course, maintaining old contacts. We get feedback in our mill store or at events as to where visitors and customers know us from, and the word "Spätlingsmarkt" is often mentioned," reports master miller Wolfgang Fessler.

The market is open until 10 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays

The opening ceremony of the Spätlingsmarkt will take place on Monday, November 4, at 6.30 pm in the district hall foyer. However, you can shop from 11 a.m. on this day. The market can also be visited on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 am to 8 pm. On Monday and Thursday it is open from 11 am to 10 pm and on Saturday, the closing day, from 9 am to 2 pm.

Wednesday, November 6, is Family Day again. Families with children are very welcome. The animals at the school farm will be waiting to be stroked and there will be quizzes and activities for children to take part in. In the atrium of the extension building, old crafts such as pottery and basket weaving will be on display. On Thursday, November 7, District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier will present certificates for the best fruit brandies in the atrium of the first extension building from 2.30 pm.

Newly designed outdoor area

The outdoor area has been completely redesigned. Directly in front of the main entrance, Saxon bratwurst and other Saxon dishes, s'Esele beer, chocolate crêpes, mulled gin, other delicacies and pottery invite you to linger. In addition, the market will be enriched by a number of innovations and new stand operators: on level 9 in the Kreishaus, visitors will find an exclusive café with coffee specialties from Kaffee Romero from its own roastery and fair trade, as well as refreshing offers from Café Pustekuchen with gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan cakes and pastries. You can also enjoy a specialty from Chilimanufaktur: hot chocolate made from oat milk or cow's milk with the hot spice. On level 5, two artists from the Upper Galilee offer their works of art. Hand-knitted sweaters are also waiting for new owners. In the wine street, wine lovers can enjoy exclusive wines from the Herzog von Württemberg winery and a range of Swabian dishes from Genuss Manufaktur Koppe, owner of the Hirsch restaurant in Besigheim. Wax maker Irmgard Tinz will be offering Springerle molds with old and new motifs on level 4. Freiberg's Turkish twin town Erzin will also be offering freshly harvested, ripe citrus fruits and pomegranates as well as freshly squeezed juice for the first time in ten years in the first extension to the Kreishaus.

Visitors are asked to use public transport to get to the Kreishaus. The Kreishaus at Hindenburgstraße 40 can be reached by bus lines 421 and 533 (bus stop: Landratsamt) - from Wednesday, November 6, to Friday, November 8, there will also be three rickshaws running from the Ludwigsburg central bus station to the Kreishaus and back during the opening hours of the market.
