True to the motto "There is nothing good unless you do it": the pupils of Mörike Gymnasium Ludwigsburg won first place in the district's climate protection competition with their "#Machhaltigkeit" project. The prize was recently presented at the Citizens' Energy Symposium in Ludwigsburg district hall
Six schools took part in the first climate protection competition last year and have now received awards and prizes for their commitment to climate and resource protection. First place went to Mörike Gymnasium Ludwigsburg for its contribution "#Machhaltigkeit". Under this title, Mörike Gymnasium carries out numerous interdisciplinary campaigns and projects on all areas of sustainability throughout the school year. District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas congratulated the successful award winners and presented the representatives of Mörike-Gymnasium with a symbolic cheque for 1,250 euros. The school promised that this would be used for further climate protection efforts. "Climate protection is the topic of the future par excellence. In this respect, our schools are naturally the best addresses for such exemplary projects," said the district administrator.
The award ceremony was followed by the citizens' symposium. Around 40 participants worked on specific issues relating to the energy transition in two workshops. The workshop "Successful heating - motivating for the local heating network", led by Jörg Dürr-Pucher from Clean Energy, dealt with the importance of heating networks for the heating transition and how the advantages of a central heating supply can be communicated convincingly and in a way that is close to the people. Konstanze Stein from KEA Klimaschutz- und Energieagentur Baden-Württemberg GmbH and Lukas Winkler from Baden-Württembergischer Genossenschaftsverband worked in the second workshop on the topic of "Advancing energy efficiency in buildings - offering complete packages as a service provider". One of the issues addressed here was the question of how contracting can be used effectively as an instrument to mobilize savings potential in private and public properties and thus promote the local energy transition.
In the subsequent lecture block, Dennis Fricken, Climate Protection Manager of the Ludwigsburg district, presented the district's climate protection concept and emphasized the special importance of citizens as partners in climate protection in view of the large proportion of CO2 emissions in private households. In addition, the energy transition is a joint task for politics, business and private commitment. Volker Klös then presented the innovative participation model with which the Sonneninitiative e. V. association enables citizens to operate solar systems on public land.
