District Administrator visits Café Blatter in Bietigheim-Bissingen - Regretting the end of a traditional business

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier recently paid a farewell visit to Café Blatter, which is closing its traditional business at the end of the year. The many problems, from a shortage of skilled workers to rising production costs, are currently causing problems for many craft and family businesses.

The counter is still well stocked with Christmas cookies, pralines and the specially decorated cakes for which master baker and confectioner Eberhard Blatter is widely known. For him and his wife Bettina, quality and service have always been the top priority, which has been translated into delicious baked goods every day by the fourth generation and around 50 employees. The gratifying fact that all employees have already found new jobs highlights the enormous shortage of skilled workers in a number of sectors. "Many businesses, not just in the bakery trade, are currently facing major problems, from a lack of new recruits to rising production costs," says district business promoter Oliver Reichert.

At the end of the year, the oven in the bakery on the B27 will now remain cold. "Then perhaps you will have more time for your various political and social commitments," the district administrator remarked with regard to Blatter's honorary positions as a local and district councillor. Blatter has been a member of the district council for the Free Voters since 2019. "I hope to see many more of your ideas and contributions to help shape, change and make the district of Ludwigsburg more attractive," said the District Administrator. Supporting regional associations was also always an important concern for the Blatters, for which the District Administrator expressed his sincere thanks. As a parting gift, the District Administrator presented Mr. and Mrs. Blatter with a basket of regional produce.
