Visitors to the market know that the goods at the Spätlingsmarkt are produced in a resource-conserving and socially responsible manner and are durable. They are not only interested in purchasing products, but also in the commitment and responsibility with which the stall operators master the current social and ecological challenges. The topic of sustainability has been a concept of the Spätlingsmarkt from the very beginning, but the term "sustainable" was not used in this context back then. "The Spätlingsmarkt and its products have always been the antithesis of the throwaway society. High quality and freshness, regionality, short distances, functionality and care have always been part of the Spätlingsmarkt," said the District Administrator.
This year, the market once again has some new attractions: The Hungarian partner county from Pest impresses with a new concept: sea buckthorn products, Hungarian salami and cheese complement the traditional range. Lángos and spiral potatoes are served in front of the main entrance. A new stand operator from Vaihingen-Enz offers exquisite cold-pressed edible oils in organic quality, in particular freshly pressed virgin and unfiltered linseed oil from regional organic cultivation, various handmade organic bars, organic linseed pomace bread with emmer, organic linseed pomace bread with spelt seedlings, organic smoothies, organic omega-3 chicken eggs, organic omega-3 ice cream as well as various oil flours and food supplements on level 2 in the foyer of the Kreishaus. A new treat directly from the district of Ludwigsburg is available in the atrium: the finest caffè, espresso and cappuccino with coffee beans from our own roasting directly from Hohenhaslach in combination with hand-molded chocolates and chocolate specialties from Bietigheim and biscotti from Erdmannhausen.
In addition to the butchers' guild's sausage quality test on November 7, the Ludwigsburg bakers' guild invites you to the district's first public stollen quality test on Wednesday, November 6, from 11 a.m. in the large conference hall. Various lectures on nutrition round off the new offer. A total of 14 wineries will offer the full spectrum of wine enjoyment. A cider maker from Ditzingen will be offering the finest apple and pear cider on level 5. In 2019, there will once again be a district cider on offer on levels 3, 4 and 5 as well as in the inner courtyard of the extension to the Kreishaus. The wine and whisky tastings and the theme day, which has been taking place for three years, this time on Tuesday, November 5, on the topic of "Natural Gardens - Species-rich Habitats" with interesting lectures and a front garden award from the Green Neighbourhood, offer plenty of space for information and tasting.
At the fruit brandy award ceremony as part of the Spätlingsmarkt, the district's own whiskies and gins are now honored in a special award. There are also special awards for brandies. The best fruit brandy in the district of Ludwigsburg will receive a special certificate during the award ceremony by District Administrator Haas on Friday, November 8th. Our distillers process orchard fruit and take care of the orchard meadows. In doing so, they contribute to the protection and preservation of our endangered cultural landscape and biodiversity.
The poor parking situation around the Kreishaus requires visitors to make a contribution to climate protection. The district administration office requests that visitors travel by public transport. Purchases can also be parked temporarily in the free checkroom. Bus routes 421 and 533 will take visitors from Ludwigsburg train station directly to the gates of the Spätlingsmarkt at Hindenburgstraße 40.
