The backend layout is selected via the page properties of a page. Here, editors can use the Appearance tab to define the backend layout for the current page (Backend layout for this page only) and the backend layout for all subpages of the current page (Backend layout for subpages of this page).

If a different backend layout is required on an individual subpage, the backend layout only needs to be adjusted in the page properties of the corresponding subpage.

The selection Special page with or without context is only intended for very special cases. Currently only used for the easy language section. The selection Subpage with and without context is the standard and should cover most cases.

Important: If no backend layout is defined for the subpages - i.e. neither on the subpage itself nor via the backend layout for the subpage of this page as described above - subpages are automatically assigned the backend layout of the parent page.
