Handover with a colorful program in Ludwigsburg district hall: Nine schools receive the "Healthy School" certificate

"Healthy School?!" certificates were presented to representatives from nine schools at the Ludwigsburg district hall on Monday (December 11). The certificates were presented by three MHP Riesen youth players - Sebastian Schwachhofer (European, world and Olympic champion), Abdulhay Kömürkara (German national player) and Moek Icke (Dutch national player).

A group of students and adults poses for a photo, celebrating their achievement. They hold certificates and a large sign indicating a reward of 100. The backdrop features a colorful mural of a head with a brain, symbolizing education and creativity.

After the certificate presentation: Head of the Health Department Dr. Karlin Stark (1st from left), Dr. Uschi Traub, Head of the Department of Health Promotion and Health Planning, Marc Salzer, Youth Coordinator of the MHP Giants (3rd from left), and Sabine Conrad, Head of the Ludwigsburg State Education Authority (2nd row, center), with representatives of the certified schools and the three youth players of the MHP Giants.

As additional recognition, Dr. Karlin Stark, head of the health department, presented each school with 100 euros from the district for the implementation of further health-promoting projects. At the certificate presentation ceremony, the "Healthy School?!" steering group carried out re-certifications at eight schools. Post-certification means that the respective schools have already had a certificate. The Schule am Baumbach in Walheim was the only school to receive a new certificate for the area of physical activity.

The schools awarded the overall certificate for all sub-areas of nutrition, exercise, addiction and violence include the Hillerschule in Bietigheim, the Schillerschule in Bissingen, the Silcherschule and the Theodor-Heuss-Realschule in Kornwestheim and the Lembergschule in Ludwigsburg. The basketball players presented the partial certificates for exercise and addiction/violence to the representatives of the Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium in Ludwigsburg, the partial certificate for addiction/violence to the Goethe-Gymnasium in Ludwigsburg and the partial certificate for addiction/violence to the Oscar-Walcker-Schule vocational school in Ludwigsburg. All certificates are valid for four years.

"The coronavirus pandemic has impressively demonstrated how important health is, especially in education"

Dr. Uschi Traub, Head of Health Prevention at the District Office, emphasized in her introduction: "The corona pandemic has impressively shown us how important health is, especially in education. Sick pupils and teachers were unable to learn and teach effectively. To this day, we have not overcome the negative consequences. Participating in the 'Healthy School' process improves the resilience of everyone involved." The latest school barometer from the Robert Bosch Foundation reports fears and worries among pupils, behavioral problems, concentration problems, violence and bullying. According to the survey, lack of time and workload play a major role for teachers. Sabine Conrad, Head of the State Education Authority, therefore praised the sustainable approach of the "Healthy School": "It is important to continue on this path and to encourage and 'infect' neighboring schools to take up the topic."

Despite the large age differences in the audience, everyone was enthusiastic about the varied program, which included a sandwich rap by the Hiller School, performances by the Schiller School drum group and the Goethe-Gymnasium dance group as well as a demonstration by the Labyrinth art school's hip-hop dance group. The talk with the basketball players also impressed the audience.
