Now three lanes with a new threading lane onto the B 27

The widening of district road 1671 between Bietigheim-Bissingen and Tamm is almost complete. After four months of construction, representatives of the regional council, the district administration and the towns of Bietigheim-Bissingen and Tamm were able to reopen the road to traffic on Thursday (August 31). The road is now three lanes wide and has a new merging lane onto the B 27.

A group of six individuals in formal attire stands on a newly constructed road, holding a ribbon in front of them, preparing to cut it. The atmosphere suggests a ceremonial event, possibly a road opening or celebration related to infrastructure development.

They opened the district road to traffic (from left): Jürgen Hottmann, first honorary deputy mayor of Tamm, Lord Mayor Jürgen Kessing (Bietigheim-Bissingen), First State Official Jürgen Vogt, Head of Department Andreas Klein (Regional Council), Member of Parliament Tayfun Tok and Roland Stolz from the Roads Department at the District Office.

"It often takes ages for major road construction projects to be implemented. The expansion of district road 1671 between Bietigheim-Bissingen and Tamm shows that things can also happen relatively quickly," said First State Official and Head of Transport Jürgen Vogt at the traffic release. In fact, the project was included in the district road program at the second attempt in 2020. The originally planned four lanes became three lanes in 2020, which halved the amount of space required. "In my view, this compromise is the right one and shows that we can pursue climate-friendly road construction with a sense of proportion. This measure is definitely justified if you consider the enormous traffic load of up to 25,000 vehicles a day for a district road," continued Vogt. Traffic safety will also be better at this point in the future, as the additional lane will make it easier to merge into Porschestraße, which is both awkward and difficult.

According to Vogt, the short decision-making and implementation period is all the more remarkable when you consider that the district not only expanded the district road, but also rebuilt and renovated the B 27 and the state road 1100 in Tamm at the same time. "It shows once again that good cooperation and early coordination pay off," summarized Vogt. In this context, he thanked all those involved in the project.

However, the first state official and head of the traffic department pointed out that the construction work on the K 1671 will continue from the end of September from the Fritz-Lieken-Straße to the Böhringer junction. The 20-year-old road surface on the last section of the district road in the direction of the Grötztunnel will also be replaced. This work is expected to continue until the end of October. At the same time, the remaining work to optimize all traffic lights along the entire K 1671 will also be carried out.

The total costs amount to around 5 million euros. Of this, around 2.8 million euros will be spent on the main road (0.6 kilometers), around 1.8 million euros on the district road (0.8 kilometers) and around 400,000 euros on the state road (0.3 kilometers). The state subsidy amounts to around 0.9 million euros, half of the district road costs.
