Modern working methods within the district administration

The Ludwigsburg District Office is presenting itself as a modern employer and is introducing the "Mobile Work" service agreement on August 1. "It is our express joint intention to enable and establish modern forms of work within the district administration in the long term," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier.

The service agreement, which was reached between the staff council and the district administration with special support from the "Digitalization" department, emphasizes the strategic orientation of the district administration office with regard to modern forms of work. The ongoing digitalization of work and communication tools means that many tasks no longer have to be carried out in an office, but can be completed just as successfully at a workstation at home or on the move. In a modern administration, "mobile working" offers the opportunity to actively and positively meet the challenges of the information society and to take advantage of this form of work.

On August 1, the Ludwigsburg District Office will introduce "mobile working" across all hierarchical levels, functional areas and individual management patterns within the framework of official circumstances. Employees whose activities are suitable for mobile working will be given the opportunity to apply for mobile working. Depending on the area of activity, there is the option of working from home in whole or in part, for example on certain days of the week. The duration, location, working hours and telephone availability are agreed individually. Important framework conditions such as data protection are also regulated.

By expanding the existing online platform, employees can log in from anywhere via secure access. "In principle, it makes no difference whether I boot up my computer in the office or access my usual work interface from home or on the move with my laptop, tablet or smartphone," reports an employee who is already working from home. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the associated lockdown, some of the district administration's 2,000 employees have already made intensive use of the digital working options from home.
