Free specialist evening in Ludwigsburg: Young children and digital media - ways to a healthy approach

Digital media has long been part of everyday life - even for the youngest of children: even toddlers come into contact with smartphones, tablets and televisions at an early age. The specialist evening on October 13, 2025 at 6 pm (admission: 5.30 pm) in the Mensa Stadtbad in Ludwigsburg (Alleenstraße 20) will focus on precisely this topic. The specialist evening is being organized by the district's local addiction officer in cooperation with the prevention network "Starke Kinder chancenreich in Ludwigsburg".

The program includes a lecture by renowned media expert Clemens Beisel entitled "Between sandbox and smartphone - media education from the very beginning" as well as a panel discussion with experts from practice, science and everyday family life. Among others, Dr. Gesine Kulcke (academic assistant at the Department of Media Education at the Institute of Educational Sciences at the Ludwigsburg University of Education) and Dr. Ulrike Rangwich-Fellendorf (Deputy Head of the Health Department of the Ludwigsburg District Office) will discuss the question: "How can early media addiction prevention succeed?"

In addition, a "Market of Opportunities" offers insights into specific support and advice services from the region, such as the Ludwigsburg City Library, Aktion Jugendschutz, ELTERNTALK, MiniFit and other projects.

Guidance and support for parents and professionals

What does early media use mean for children's development and how can parents and educational professionals support children in learning how to use digital media in a healthy and competent way? The event deals with these questions - in a practical, well-founded way and with lots of ideas for everyday life. It is particularly important for parents and educational professionals to provide guidance and clear rules for dealing with digital media at an early stage, as problematic media use in children and young people is demonstrably on the rise. The specialist evening offers well-founded information, practical insights and the opportunity to exchange ideas with experts.
