The aim of the company visits is to familiarize young asylum seekers and refugees with various occupational fields. The aim is also to establish contact with potential training companies. Young asylum seekers between the ages of 15 and 21 generally have the opportunity to get to know the dual training system from the school and company side. In the preparatory classes at the district's vocational schools, they are first taught basic German language skills. They are then supported in a pre-qualification year so that they can then start vocational training. This is also of great importance for the local economy due to the increasing shortage of skilled workers.
This year, the following companies took part: Dachser SE in Kornwestheim, Hainbuch GmbH in Marbach, Hofmeister Dienstleistungs-GmbH in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Kleeblatt-Pflegeheim gGmbH in Möglingen, Gebr. KG in Kornwestheim, Schlosshotel Monrepos in Ludwigsburg, Stadtwerke Bietigheim-Bissingen GmbH, Albert-Knapp-Heim (Stiftung ev. Altenheime Ludwigsburg) and Autohaus Weller GmbH & Co KG in Bietigheim-Bissingen. Prior to the event, the young people were given information about the German training system and the special features of dual training. Afterwards, they were able to get to know the practical side of vocational training in the participating companies. Apprentices from the companies provided an overview of the apprenticeships and gave a clear presentation of their day-to-day work and the requirements of the training. A tour of the company with lots of insights into day-to-day business rounded off each event. The 2019 "taster tour" is supported by the regional program for securing skilled workers of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Housing.
