Funding for the Ludwigsburg-Stuttgart organic model region extended until 2026

With further funding from the state, the Ludwigsburg-Stuttgart organic model region can continue its work to strengthen the regional organic value chain.

Ludwigsburg District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier is delighted with the extension: "The organic model region focuses on the entire value chain in the region, from the field and barn to processing, trade, canteens and kitchens to the plate." The state capital Stuttgart also welcomes the extension. It already has a lot to show in the area of nursery catering: the proportion of organic food in catering is currently 44% and is set to rise to 50% next year. In order for the organic produce to come from the region, the regional marketing and processing structures need to be expanded even further. "The organic model region supports us in this with its supra-regional networking work," says Matthias Pfeiffer from the Stuttgart Economic Development Agency.

In the area of community catering, the ambitious goal of the Ludwigsburg-Stuttgart organic model region is to have firmly integrated the canteens that are already interested as well as other new canteens by the beginning of 2023 in order to then achieve more bundling and pre-processing of ready-to-cook organic vegetables from the city and district or neighboring regions by 2026. An important prerequisite for this is to have networked the organic farms with each other and beyond their immediate region by then. This is necessary in order to bundle enough raw materials for pre-processing. The organic model region is also taking agriculture and consumers along on the path to more organic produce from the region for the region with information days for converters and the continuation of online cooking courses.
