Transport service for people with disabilities: Environment and Technology Committee approves continuation until the end of 2026

The continuation of the transport service for people with disabilities until the end of 2026 was approved by the Committee for Environment and Technology (AUT) at its meeting on Monday (October 23). The district will provide an annual subsidy of up to 84,400 euros from the state's public transport funds. "We are convinced that the transport service for people with disabilities is a very good and necessary service for this group of people," said District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier.

The transport service is available to severely disabled people who are unable to use public transport due to their disability and who live in the district of Ludwigsburg. These people can use the service free of charge. There is no limit to the number of journeys per person. The offer does not apply to care home residents and people with disabilities who have their own tax-subsidized vehicle.

District administration to conclude contract to continue the service

The district administration is now to conclude a contract with Johanniter-Unfallhilfe (JUH) and Maltester Hilfsdienst, which have operated the transport service to date, to continue the service.

There are currently 371 authorized users of the transport service registered with JUH in the district. Of these, 45 people used the transport service between January and June of this year. On average, there were 65 journeys per month. One vehicle is available for the transport service.
