Europe in the classroom - creativity and knowledge honored

Once again this year, numerous schools from the district took part in the "European Competition" creative competition and the "European Quiz". The best classes and the pupils' works were recently honored at an awards ceremony in the district hall. The high level of participation, creative contributions and impressive achievements are proof of this: Europe moves young people - and they are actively helping to shape it.

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier recently presented awards to the best classes and pupils' work at the European Competition and Europe Quiz awards ceremony (Ludwigsburg District Office).

The motto of the 72nd European Competition was "Europe? But safe!". The pupils had the task of sharing their ideas for a life in freedom and security. A total of 16 schools from the Ludwigsburg district with 561 pupils took part. Of these, the Europa-Zentrum selected 188 winners, including seven national prizes.

Record number of participants in the 22nd Europe Quiz

For the 22nd time, the district has organized a Europe quiz for all secondary schools, in which knowledge about the European Union is tested and deepened by means of quiz questions. This year, a record number of 28 classes from eleven schools took part. Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg has sponsored the Europe Quiz with 2,000 euros every year since 2004.

Young generation shows strong commitment to Europe

"It is gratifying that we can once again report an increase in the number of participants in the European competition and even a record number of participants in the European quiz," said District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier at the award ceremony. "Especially in the current times, when we are facing major global challenges, Europe matters more than ever," said the District Administrator. Dr. Heinz-Werner Schulte, Chairman of the Management Board of Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg, believes that "this competition is more important than ever. Because it conveys to young people the importance and necessity of a free, democratic Europe that needs to be understood and defended." Schulte sees the high level of interest shown by pupils in the topic as "proof that the younger generation is prepared to do just that."

First-time winning class from special education and counseling center

Three winning classes were drawn from the 18 classes that answered the Europe quiz correctly this year: August-Hermann-Werner-Schule in Markgröningen (class 8-9a) came first, followed by Kirbachschule in Sachsenheim (class 8) in 2nd place, with Ottmar-Mergenthaler-Realschule Vaihingen/Enz (class 9d) in 3rd place.

The prizes for the three winning classes were presented by District Administrator Allgaier and Dr. Schulte, Chairman of the Board of Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg. The first place winners received a trip to Strasbourg with a visit to the European Parliament, the second place winners were able to look forward to a trip to Munich with a visit to the European Parliament's information office and the third prize was the "Stadt-Land-Fluss" game and a book voucher.
