Before the start of the bike tour, tour guide Wolfgang Trackl briefly checked the bikes and took care of all the safety requirements for an accident-free tour. The cyclists set off in front of the information board at the starting point in Glemseck in the district of Böblingen in a fresh 5 degree temperature. The tour led through the beautiful Glemstal valley past the Lahrens, Clausen, Scheffel and Fleischmühle mills to the Tonmühle mill in Ditzingen. Here, master miller Ulrich Siegle gave the group an insight into his work during a tour of the mill. The questions were answered expertly with a lot of wit and esprit. After a break in the mill café with hot drinks to warm up, the tour continued past the Zechlesmühle mill to the Schlossmühle mill in the center of Ditzingen. After a short briefing on the mill ensemble, the group spent a relaxed lunch break in Ditzingen. The newly designed square on the Glems invited the group to relax, have a snack and rest. The surrounding restaurants also provided refreshments.
Rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Glems valley
After the lunch break, we continued on the Glemsmühlenweg. Through the Glems floodplain, past the Tal- and Glemsmühle mill to the Hagmühle mill ensemble in Hemmingen. During a short stop here, the cyclists were given interesting facts about the Hagmühle and were able to apply the knowledge they had just gained directly on site.
Once everyone's water supply had been replenished, the route continued along the Glems. Past the Stumpen-, Bruck-, Neu- and Spitalmühle to the next stop, the Untere Mühle in Markgröningen. Here, too, there was plenty to learn. All participants were able to take a short break to relax and recharge their batteries before the only significant climb of the tour. Passing the paper mill and hammer mill, the route then went moderately uphill. The effort was rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Glemstal valley. The route then continued gently downhill to the Bachmühle mill in Unterriexingen, the end of the cycle tour. After the knowledge round about the Bachmühle and a joint picture, all participants made their way home.
