"Our students' career guidance has suffered greatly over the past two years due to the coronavirus pandemic. School internships could not be carried out at times, training fairs were repeatedly canceled and company visits were hardly possible. We are therefore delighted that young people can now get a good and quick overview of internships in the district at www.erlebe-berufe.de," says Markus Klein, school inspector at the Ludwigsburg State Education Authority.
The new platform is free of charge for both young people and employers. Its great strength is its flexibility: "Whereas in our previous "Company Summer" project, employers could only offer taster days during the Whitsun and summer vacations, school internships, vacation internships or taster days during all vacations are now possible all year round," explains Markus Schmitt, Head of the Education Office, which operates the platform.
"We welcome the fact that companies can present their internship offers to interested young people on this platform. Individual filter functions enable suitable matching between the two sides - an important prerequisite for a successful outcome and possibly the foundation for a training relationship," says Thomas Wiesbauer, President of the Ludwigsburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
As an employer, Konzelmann was involved in the development of the platform. Kathrin Ruof, Head of Training, says: "Targeting pupils is important to us. At www.erlebe-berufe.de, we can therefore specify the age, suitable school qualifications and the catchment area. The map function enables quick spatial orientation. The short videos linked to the professions are also very helpful. This allows young people to familiarize themselves with the profession before the internship."
Martin Scheel, Head of the Employment Agency, confirms that work placements are important building blocks in the career choice process. "Practical experience is the best way for young people to get to know industries, occupational fields and activities. For an internship to be successful, it is important that the employer describes the content of the internship as specifically as possible when advertising it. This way, young people know exactly what to expect. An appreciative working atmosphere and a good feedback culture are also important success criteria for young people when evaluating internships."
"Smaller craft businesses often have greater problems recruiting young talent than large employers," says District Master Craftsman Albrecht Lang. "Pupils often focus on large and well-known employers, but smaller companies in particular often have a lot to offer career starters. Beginners there usually have a wide range of tasks and are quickly assigned responsible tasks. Employers can advertise these strengths on the platform and use them to their advantage."
