Due to work on the Enz hydropower plant: water level at the worsted spinning mill completely lowered - Caution: restrictions and danger zone for canoeists and boaters until probably mid or end of September

The water level at the weir had to be completely lowered by the operator for conversion work on the T 26 hydropower plant at the worsted spinning mill in Bietigheim-Bissingen. The conversion work is expected to last until the middle or end of September. During this time, the dam will remain lowered and the power plant canal will be closed off. The environmental department of the district administration therefore warns canoeists and boaters of the danger area and points out that when navigating this section of the Enz, it is essential to use the exit on the right-hand side in front of the weir and to carry the watercraft around the weir.

Canoeists and boaters need to be particularly careful on the Enz at the hydroelectric power station near the worsted spinning mill until mid or late September.

The left-hand weir gates on the weir system were opened to lower the water level. The complete flow of the Enz currently takes place exclusively via these weir panels. This creates a current in the Enz that boaters can get caught in if they approach the weir too closely or stay too far in the middle of the river or on the left-hand side. They are then pulled over the weir boards into the Enz area below the weir. Due to the turbulence below the weir, this can be dangerous for canoeists and boaters, even if they are wearing a life jacket.

When navigating this section of the Enz, it is essential to ensure that the exit on the right-hand side in front of the weir is used and that it is "carried around", i.e. the watercraft must be carried around the weir. A floating platform is attached to this exit for the time the weir is lowered to make it easier to disembark. The danger zone is marked with a rope. The danger zone should not be entered for your own safety.
