What was crucial for us was an orderly and transparent process that combines responsibility and reliability.”
“Vaihingen an der Enz hasn’t had a hospital for 12 years. The risk of losing the medical center as well posed a threat to the town’s basic medical care,” explains Vaihingen Mayor Uwe Skrzypek-Muth. “We are the architects of our own fortune; as a city, we took the initiative and are grateful to have reached a solution—together with the district, the district administrator, and Kliniken gGmbH—that keeps both urban development and healthcare prospects for our citizens in mind. For Vaihingen, this is a great opportunity to shape an important part of the city in the interest of the common good.”
From the perspective of Kliniken GmbH as well, the agreement is the result of a clearly structured process. Axel Hechenberger, Managing Director of RKH Regionale Kliniken Holding und Services GmbH, emphasizes: “We structured the sales process to be transparent and straightforward. Through trust-based discussions with the city, we were able to reach a solution that is sustainable in the long term, provides planning certainty, and enables the reliable further development of the site.”
Ensuring medical care in Vaihingen remains a key priority. Existing structures, particularly the medical center, will be preserved; current lease agreements will continue. For patients, this means continuity and reliability.
With the decisions by the supervisory board and the municipal council, the way is now clear for the next steps. In the coming months, the focus will be on the contractual implementation and further planning by the city.
